About Haorili

What it is

Haorili is a Chinese calendar for the overseas Chinese community: Gregorian and lunar dates, the 24 solar terms, traditional festivals, China's public holidays and make-up workdays, daily stem-branch dates and Chinese zodiac luck, plus local weather, top news and "on this day" history. It is free and needs no sign-up.

Where the content comes from

Lunar dates, solar terms and stem-branch dates are calculated with the open-source lunar-java library. Public holidays come from the State Council's official notices (compiled by the open-source holiday-cn project). Weather is from Open-Meteo, news from Google News (links go to the original publishers), and "on this day" from Wikipedia under CC BY-SA 4.0. The solar term illustrations were made for this site.

About zodiac luck

Zodiac luck and "lucky / unlucky" ratings come from Chinese folk tradition and calendar culture. They are derived from stem-branch relationships of the date and have no scientific basis. They are offered for cultural interest and fun only. Please don't be superstitious, and don't base any important decision (money, health, marriage, travel) on them.
